Research Project Name
Utilizing Waste Heat From Data Centers
What We Did
The global shift to working from home has dramatically accelerated the construction of new data centers around the world. While these structures improve the quality, efficiency, and experience of internet access, each data center carries steep environmental costs related to its energy consumption and carbon emissions. To reduce this impact, our research explores how to utilize waste heat from data centers for indoor farming. We found that this practice could help offset the carbon emissions associated with data centers, provide jobs and raw materials for food production, and create a paradigm shift in the world of critical facilities.
