U.S.VETS Houston Third Ward

U.S.VETS partnered with Gensler to develop its first project in Houston. The new development not only provides veterans with a place to reintegrate into civilian life through housing and re-entry programs, but also gives the vets a place to call home and an opportunity to create a sense of belonging. The design team used massing and elevation differences to smartly divide the campus into private and semipublic zones in order to create different experiences for people through different phases of the re-entry program. By working with U.S.VETS and hundreds of veteran candidates, the team believes this will be the new housing development program to make forgotten heroes proud again.
