The Canopy at CIBC SQUARE

To position CIBC SQUARE as the best-in-class, experience-led new office building in Toronto’s south core, Ivanhoé Cambridge and Hines partnered with Gensler to create The Canopy — a hospitality-focused tenant lobby that provides more comfort, warmth, and openness than a traditional commercial office building. The goal of the lobby design project was to create a space activates the area, generates a visual connection to the surrounding cityscape, and blends lifestyle and workplace to create a ‘third space’ for all building tenants. Purposeful seating zones are designed to accommodate a variety of postures, from soft, welcoming sofas to harvest tables, creating an atmosphere that invites conversation and collaboration. The result is a tenant-driven amenity that is in constant use throughout the day and acts as a central gathering hub for activations, fostering a singular sense of community among tenants.
