Sun Country Airlines
Richfield, Minnesota
As a hometown airline, Sun Country sought a headquarters destination and design that authentically embodies its values and brings together staff from different locations under one roof. Located inside of Sun Country’s airline hangar, the modern workplace captures the airline’s spirit — fun, energetic, and accessible meets sensible, functional, and convenient. As a connector of people and places, Sun Country’s overall workplace design concept focuses on fostering connections including connections to land and sky, Minnesota to Sun Country destinations, past to future, and staff to each other. Raw, industrial materials combined with bold brand moments complement the hangar while adhering to Sun Country’s objectives for a sensible, flexible, and cost-conscious design.
Use of creative materials, including polycarbonate, allows natural daylight from clerestories to penetrate the walls and bring a glow within. During warmer weather, the large hangar doors can be opened to allow natural light to flood the space. An array of open collaboration, huddle rooms, conference rooms, and focus rooms provide balance and choice for employees while a dedicated training facility for pilots features a mix of multi-purpose rooms for optimal set-up.
