Springdale Green
Austin, Texas
Located on the site of a former brownfield, the reimagined Springdale Green campus represents a new kind of office campus designed to attract the creative workforce with extensive outdoor amenities, newly restored landscape, and a focus on sustainability and wellness. Nestled among a restored preserve, the project reverses years of ecological damage by transforming the industrial site into a verdant oasis.
The unique workplace experience at Springdale Green is based on the idea of communing with nature and expecting the unexpected. The campus features two six-story office buildings that offer an entirely modern way of working with multiple outdoor areas, conference space with a dedicated outdoor patio, as well as a dedicated fitness and wellness center.
More than 19 acres of the site are preserved and restored with native meadows, woodland, and plantings. A 600,000-gallon underground cistern captures and stores rainwater and air conditioning condensation, while rain gardens and a bio-retention basin will be used to treat stormwater, irrigate the landscape, and prevent runoff.
Because of these and other climate action strategies, Gensler’s team of Climate & Sustainability consultants are helping the client target LEED Gold and Austin Energy Green Building 3-Star. When complete, Springdale Green will be Austin’s first Sustainable SITES office campus landscape.
