Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy - Round House
San Francisco, California
In devising a design strategy for the Round House, a circular Art Deco building overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, Gensler proposed a destination for visitors and locals that lives up to the reputation of its towering neighbor. With a focus on revitalizing the building to enhance the visitor experience, Gensler conducted engagement activities, interviews with Parks Conservancy members and research on the visitor area. The research and strategy is synthesized in an approachable book that adopts the aesthetic of the Golden Gate brand and presents data through compelling infographics. Illustrative photo overlays allow the reader to see and feel how placemaking, targeted concessions and educational moments could revive the Round House as a San Francisco icon.
