Roots to Success
Washington, D.C.
Roots to Success is a pro bono initiative by Gensler in partnership with Benjamin Moore, Haworth, HITT, No Kings Collective, and Price Modern that connects the students at Kelly Miller Middle School (KMMS) with access to fresh produce and sustainable food education. This is made possible through the creation of a new student farm and renovation of the students’ cafeteria. KMMS is a Title 1 middle school in the heart of Ward 7 in Washington, D.C. By increasing resources and access to food education, Roots to Success seeks to close the gaps in this underserved community. The project was selected as the U.S. Green Building Council’s 2023 Greenbuild Legacy Project due to its lasting impact on the city.
