Project Color Corps
Concord, California
Project Color Corps is a nonprofit that seeks to create positive change by painting inner city schools with colors and patterns that impart messages of optimism and hope. At Cambridge Elementary School, Gensler partnered with the organization, delving into the students' experiences to learn about the emotional, demographic and environmental factors impacting their daily lives. The project team then engaged the students to understand how they wished to feel at school, and how those feelings could be expressed through color. “Stellar Fun,” the winning design theme, instills a fresh liveliness and vivacity to the school grounds, and features tessellated geometric kaleidoscope shapes in bright colors that evoke the depth and movement of light in gems.
