New Terminal One at JFK International Airport
Queens, New York
As part of the modernization of John F. Kennedy International Airport, the all-new Terminal One will prioritize accessibility, convenience, and the ultimate passenger experience from airside to landside. Designed by Gensler and AECOM, the largest privately funded terminal in the country will serve as an international gateway to the U.S. and will encompass over 300,000 square feet of dining, retail, lounges, and recreational space.
To support the goal of LEED Silver certification, Gensler designed a center spine of skylights to provide daylighting throughout the terminal’s soaring interiors, while photovoltaics will provide a sustainable source of power. The terminal masterplan creates a picturesque green space between the new building and its departure roads, embedding the terminal into a welcoming landscape with native plantings. When fully built, the 23-gate Terminal One will provide a world-class experience for visitors and residents of the New York region.
