New Malden Urban Regeneration

Running right through London, the anticipated Crossrail 2 rail link connecting Surry to Hertfordshire will create a connected corridor of opportunity to balance the east-west focus of the Crossrail 1 link. The Royal Borough of Kingston commissioned Gensler to study the impact of the proposed Crossrail 2 station on New Malden and explore development opportunities for transforming surrounding areas. Gensler’s proposed master plan focuses on a large-scale redevelopment of the town centre, which would not only connect the north and south sides, but also create substantial Over Station Development (OSD). This OSD feature gives New Malden a prideful new sense of place and a civic heart, transforming the town into a new southern gateway to London.
