Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities

A leading digital humanities center, MITH pursues disciplinary innovation and institutional transformation through applied research, public programming and educational opportunities. When, from its basement location, MITH moved to a space with a wall of courtyard windows, it reached out to Gensler for design help on a pro-bono basis. Influenced by MITH’s unique organization, the new space is clean and open, providing maximum flexibility through multi-functional layouts accommodating research and collaboration. The space also showcases MITH’s prized Electronic Literature Collection on a central floating display. The light and airy office attracts frequent visitors and has become a frequent stop on university tours.
