Georgetown Day School Brand Design
Washington, D.C.
Gensler’s new campus for Georgetown Day School is designed to help it prepare for the next chapter in its remarkable history as the first racially integrated school in the nation’s capital. Previously spread across multiple locations, the lower and middle schools are now housed in one building across from the high school. Custom installations throughout are designed to be intriguing and hands-on, bringing to life the school’s mission of “joyful learning.” On the exterior, a series of low-tech interactive panels invites students to spell GDS, or to create an abstract image of their choosing. This hands-on moment is a compelling and active way to engage kids. Other clever interpretations of typical school materials, such as pencils, create a tactile and playful layer to the environment and inspire students to think creatively.
