Electric Power and Gas Company
Charlotte, North Carolina
With 60 percent of this energy company’s workforce set to retire within five to seven years, the company transformed its workplace into a tool for attracting and supporting the next generation of talent. Gensler worked with the company over four years to analyze its real estate and workplace needs and its ways of working, collecting data from staff, creating workstation mock-ups, refining the design and providing change management to help its 1,400 employees adjust to the new environment. The new office, with large windows that flood the space with natural light, has proven successful – a post-occupancy study showed a 157 percent increase in job satisfaction.
