Aventine Lobby Repositioning
San Diego, California
Aventine is an iconic office landmark originally designed in the 1980s by renowned architect Michael Graves. Gensler teamed up with Aventine to update the building’s lobby into a vibrant new space for tenants and visitors. The goal of the project was to unify and activate two separate lobbies and a lonely rotunda. Inspired by Aventine’s goal of creating “vibrant activity all in one place,” the design team added a cafe with indoor/outdoor seating to activate the lobby. Sliding glass doors, exterior protective wood, and Corten landscape screen walls expand the seating zone into a secluded patio and augment the connection to the outdoors. The result is a lively ambiance and an improved entry experience for tenants and guests.
