Austin Community College Highland Campus Dillard's Building 3000 Renovation

Part of a larger mixed-used development on the former site of Highland Mall, a four-story Dillard’s department store was repositioned to serve the growing needs of Austin Community College and the surrounding community. In addition to the recladding and renovation, Gensler designed the core and shell for a one-story building with a mezzanine to house new studios for Austin PBS. The partnership between Austin PBS and ACC not only results in a state-of-the-art broadcasting facility, but it also lays the foundation for a long-term partnership. Austin PBS can directly engage with ACC students, offering internships and hands-on learning programs. Outdoor elements draw in the public with community gathering spaces to celebrate music and art, including an event lawn with a large outdoor screen.
