Gensler reimagined the interior design of a historical Parisian building with a juxtaposing timber extension. 22 Bayard reflects how both traditional and cutting-edge architecture is defining Paris, embracing legacy and the future with sustainability and resilience at the fore. The building itself holds five environmental certifications and labels from BREEAM, WELL, NF HQE, BBC A (Low-carbon), and Effinergie.

Previously intended to house high-end Parisian fashion brands, Gensler was tasked with designing new interiors to be more flexible and universal and appeal to a wider audience. Thus, the team opted for an organic and natural space to attract occupants by tapping into people’s innate attraction to natural environments. This resulted in a warm, welcoming, and refined yet relaxed interior design.

Gensler a été invité à réinventer les intérieurs d'un ancien bâtiment parisien avec une extension en bois juxtaposée. L'architecte d'origine a préservé autant que possible les parties historiques de la structure existante, créant un contraste avec la nouvelle charpente en bois. Ce projet reflète la façon dont l'architecture à la fois traditionnelle et avant-gardiste définit Paris, en mettant en avant à la fois l'héritage et l'avenir. Auparavant destiné à abriter des marques de mode parisiennes haut de gamme, l’objectif était de créer un univers plus flexible et universel qui s'adresse à un plus large public. Ainsi, Gensler a conçu un espace organique et naturel afin d’attirer les occupants en puisant dans leurs attraits innés pour les environnements naturels. Cela a abouti à un design à la fois chaleureux, accueillant et raffiné mais également décontracté.
