1001 McKinney Lobby Repositioning
Houston, Texas
1001 McKinney holds a long, rich history with many influential Houston office tenants yet as building ownership changed hands over the years, a series of renovations stripped the lobby of its storied past, leaving it cold and uninviting. TRC leveraged historic tax credits and engaged Gensler Houston to develop a repositioning design solution that activates the lobby, improves circulation, and restores the authentic design cues and Art Deco elements that evoke the era of the original building. Gensler transformed the lobby from a sterile and cold hall into an inviting space that encourages people to linger and meet. Infused with touches of hospitality, the reception is injected with more warmth and personality. While the building previously held two lobbies on each side of the street, the renovation unifies both to one another and to the building exterior for a cohesive, connected experience.
